R.I.P. My pink phone!

This week has been pretty busy. A lot of stuff (don’t ask me what) kept me occupied and time is just flying by. So today I got a chance to go to walmart to buy necessary groceries (pay attention to the word necessary :P)

Pre-Walmart:
My friend Jenny and I were on our way to walmart. On the way…
Jenny: I have been trying to call you but your phone is always busy.
Sowm: Always busy? No it’s not.
Jenny: then why do I hear the busy beep every time I call you? Is it connected to your internet?
Sowm: No. And I have call waiting. So even if it was busy when you called I would have seen it. Well may be… my phone acts up some times. It’s old and I will buy a new one soon. (Soon = June or July).

@ Walmart:
Anyways so my friend and I get to walmart.
Jenny: Gosh how much stuff did you have to buy?
Sowm: A lot. But see how quick I am.
Jenny: O yeah. Very. I will go get some more stuff that I wanted to get.
Sowm: Okay, I will get my stuff billed by then.

I turned and bam! there went my phone… on the floor. But I wasn’t worried. Cz it wasn’t the first time it fell on the ground. I have dropped it so many times. It has also experienced my anger... when i threw it on the wall; more than once. And not to forget when i dropped it on the staircase. I don't even want to count the number of times it fell while I was on a call.It survived everything. It is an iron-phone, nothing can happen to it. I laughed and picked it up. And damn! It broke! But I still had a feeble ray of hope that it will start working. At least so much that I’d be able to make/receive calls. So I put it together and waited. Gave it time to recover. Gave it some more time to recover. And some more time… Dude start working, I am getting impatient.

But no… too late… it has broken. Never to be fixed. Sob sob sob.

Post Walmart:
Jenny: So you have a lot of stuff. Do you need help?
Sowm: Yeah sure. Thanks :)
Jenny: Okay so which side?
Sowm: Just follow me.
Jenny: Okay
So we come right in front of the house and I try putting the key in the door lock to get in. but wait… Our door mat is not that dirty. And why does the key not open the door? Oh! It’s not my apartment.
Jenny: What? You don’t know where you stay?
Sowm: I do. It’s not this one.
Jenny: Then where is it?
Sowm: It should be the one in the next building.
Jenny: Wow! Let’s go check then.
Sowm: Yeah. Follow me.
Jenny: No not again. You follow me…

Welcome Spring!

I have never used movie wallpapers for my laptop. Ever! Except till today... Today I have a movie still from a hindi movie ‘Dostana’ as my wallpaper.

Now you will ask me… if never then why now? And why only ‘Dostana’? Oh yeah… cz the oh-so-sexy John Abrahim almost stripped in that movie. Or do I like Abhishek Bachchan that much? None! I like John and Abhishek but I have never had a crush on either of them really. Folks, I have it because of Priyanka Chopra. (Shocked?) No! My interests have not changed. I am still straight (just saying it out loud to clear all confusions, if any :P) I liked what she did to her body in this movie. How she got in to shape. Not too thin, not too fat. Just perfect. And since spring break is approaching, before I even think about a beach holiday, I need to get in a good shape too. Of course I can never become Chopra, but I can always use her for inspiration.

I have been wanting to get more regular to the gym since I came back from my India trip. But something or the other happens. I am broke at the moment. But I still purchased college gym membership. Even bought an ipod shuffle (I think it’s anybody’s best gym partner!). Also registered for the group fitness classes at the fitness center. But do you think all this will help? Let’s see. I shall write again on this topic during spring break and update you all how much was I benefited by these efforts (if at all I get any benefits hehe).

Spring is almost here. And I want to get back in shape before I start wearing my colorful little spring/summer clothes :P I ate uncontrollable in winter vacation. Obviously. So I need to act before it’s too late. And yes, I also want to mention here that I am not fat! Haha so it’s not a weight loss plan or diets or even anything close to that. It’s just a health plan (as I call it :))

Wish this lazy girl some luck :)

Mysterious voice messages ;)

11.22pm. Cold. I stepped out of the theater and there were two voice messages. Huh? How come? My phone never rang. There were no missed calls. Then why voice messages?

Voice message 1:

It was clear and I could precisely tell what needed to be conveyed. BUT it was incomplete. The person left it off in the middle of the sentence and I couldn’t figure out what he meant.

Voice message 2:

Loud music/video games back ground. Long… Very long recording. But no words. Only music. I could tell there were people talking among themselves. But words were not clear. So I have no idea who called.

So… if the people who left these messages happen to read this, please call back :)

Welcome me back… I just got back to school from a long relaxing vacation. And honestly, it feels really good to be back to where I belong. This is my last semester at OU, but for some reason I feel I have been deprived of the normal student life. I never got a chance to be on the campus for a long time. In a two year course I moved two campuses and for internship. So I never really had a chance to be with people who were like me for very long… I did make some great friends along way. But I still missed out on stupid talks… like how weird/irritating the professor for the xyz course is, or gossip about the guy who claims to be single but spends 20 hours a day with a girl who is just-a-friend, or make fun of the girl in class who wore a high-school- times like clothes to class, or talk about this cute guy in the class.

Never mind… for now, I am back to school again. Just moved into my new apartment…

I still remember when I first came from India... I was at my uncle’s house at Texas for Christmas before I moved to Norman. He came to drop me with family. We entered the house and my housemate showed us the apartment and my room. We all saw it and sat in the living room for a while. None of us knew what to say to each other.

The apartment was nothing better than a shit hole… old, dirty, and very dim lit. (It wasn’t my roommate’s fault. I think it was because the people who stayed there signed the lease long time ago and then they just kept moving out and bringing new people in). And the girl whose room I was taking over didn’t clean after herself.

I definitely was under a shock and it took me some time to digest the fact that I will be staying there for the rest of the semester. Just after that I got up and started cleaning. Trashed all the old stuff, got the beds and furniture changed and set my stuff up. The room eventually became livable and I got used to it. And then I got a cool roommie to share the room with. Not bad!

At the end of the semester we moved to a new apartment, and then I moved again and again and again. Lifestyle also improved (way too much I think).

I took last semester off for internship. And the company made our stay arrangements in a hotel. Man! It was nice! By the end of the semester I was used to the comfortable bed, wooden floors, flat screen TV and housekeeping. Yes, totally spoilt!

And then I came back to school. The world truly goes round. And I found a place in the same campus and the very same apartment complex where I stayed when I first came to the states. On the way to Norman, my heart was crying that I will have to stay in the same old kind of apartment. I somehow made my mind (cz anyways I didn’t have any other option). And I knocked the door, my would-be roommie answered.

She showed me my room and gosh! To my surprise the house was pretty clean. I didn’t have to clean at all before unpacking. Very nice I thought. Now I have unpacked and kind of settled in. When I arrived I had absolutely nothing with me. No bed sheets, pillows or comforter to sleep in. no food. Absolutely nothing!

One kind friend agreed to take me shopping the very same day. And the best buy of the day was my bedding. It made my day. I usually prefer to buy bed-in-a-bag for my bed. But this store didn’t have much options… choose from boring maroon, navy blue or dark green… plaid, stripes or checks. No fun! All dull colors and designs.

My life is anyways pretty dull these days; I don’t want my room to look the same way. Actually I will be spending a lot of time in my room this semester so I wanted a nice looking room, comfortable and bright. Something that reflects positive vibes… hope happiness and fun.

So I decided to pick everything separately. And not go for the cheapest available stuff; but stuff that feels good. I ended up choosing an all black bed sheet and pillow covers for a dark base. A bright soft turquoise comforter. And threw a red velvet cushion to bring life to the whole set up. Good thing, my room has two windows this time…. So more light!

Now I just need a black rug, some cushions and a floor lamp, and my room will be perfect.

I am happy :)
